The horns were recorded in Fred Mollin’s living room, while Amanda sang her guide vocals in the bathroom, where the acoustics happened to be perfect. As she puts it, it’s “definitely a Christmas song you can dance to!”

Wintersong
New Carols for an Old Feeling
It began with a dream. The Angel came to Mary to tell her she would be the mother of the Christ child, and Mary said “No”. Amanda woke with a lyric that wouldn’t let her go. She sent it to her long-time songwriting partner Michele Brourman with one question: “Is this a song?” A day later, Michele answered with an achingly beautiful melody.
That song became “Mary Said No”, and the start of something bigger: a whole album of new Christmas songs written to sit alongside the season’s great standards.
Recorded in just ten days in Nashville with producer Fred Mollin and some of the city’s finest session musicians, Wintersong is warm, sincere and made to be sung along to.
Christmas is not about the gift of stuff, but of emotion. It’s about the generosity of love.

Amanda McBroom is an award-winning singer, songwriter and actress whose songs are known for their honesty, warmth and emotional depth.
She wrote “The Rose”, the Golden Globe-winning song made famous by Bette Midler, and is a celebrated cabaret and concert performer. She lives in Ojai, California.
